Thursday February 15th, 2019 during the early morning hours, a Titus County Deputy observed a vehicle traveling on Titus County Road 3147 that had a headlight out. Upon stopping the vehicle and addressing the equipment violation, the driver acknowledged knowing the headlight was out.
During the contact, the deputy observed what appeared to be several unopened alcoholic beverage containers in the vehicle. When asked for consent to search the vehicle, the driver 45 year old Titus County Resident Bo Halley provided consent for the deputy to search the vehicle.
It was at that time, the deputy discovered there was a rifle in the vehicle which was not of significance but of a greater concern, was the discovery of drug paraphernalia which was connected to the practice of smoking methamphetamine. Halley was placed under arrest for the drug paraphernalia at that time.
A search incident to arrest of Halley’s person netted suspected methamphetamine. Halley who was arrested without incident, was also arrested for the felony offenses of possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 in an amount greater than 1 gram and less than 4 grams and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 in an amount less than 28 grams. In addition to the felony offenses, Halley was also arrested for the misdemeanor offenses of Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Halley was booked into the Titus County Jail on the drug possession charge but was given a warning on the misdemeanor equipment violation.
Deputies giving warnings for certain traffic violations are not uncommon however; Titus County Sheriff’s Office does not tolerate the possession and or distribution of illegal narcotics.
