Tuesday is Election Day

Tuesday, Nov. 6, is General Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the above locations.

If you are in favor of repealing the Unit Road System in Titus County, you've probably already voted because you were told how to vote or you expect to get some personal gain from the squandering of public taxpayer dollars.

If you haven't voted already, Tuesday is your last chance. Here's what you need to know:

The Unit Road System is working fine and making major improvements to our county roads. That's why the same old tired bunch of small town political hacks want it repealed before it makes further progress. They want the jobs and contracts that repeal promises.

The Unit Road System was approved in the November 2016 election. Commissioners dilly-dallied for most of 2017 in getting it off the ground - remember, all of them except Al Riddle opposed it. This year has shown impressive progress, progress that will stop if it's repealed.

In addition to looking backwards and corrupt to other counties, Titus County and its taxpayers will continue to receive ever-increasing tax bills year after year while a small hometown clique lines their own pockets. Economic development will continue to lag - who wants to locate a new industry in a county with high taxes and deep potholes?

Two commissioner candidates - John Fitch and Jimmy Parker - are 100 percent behind repeal, and fact Fitch has been one of the ringleaders in this self-serving scam. Just like the Democrats in the U.S. Congress who say that if they gain a majority they will impeach President Trump, if Fitch and Parker are re-elected they will surely still fight to repeal or disable the program. They need to be bounced by the voters in a demonstration of righteous indignation.

Raymond Johnson will make a much better commissioner than Fitch  - at least he will listen to the taxpayers and not a small clique of friends, family members and cronies - and Wesley McCollum has from the start said he will support the Unit Road System and serve the citizens rather than his personal interests. He has a long and proven track record of volunteer public service, and will do positive things rather than oppose good and new ideas and fight progress and efficiency at every turn.

On Tuesday, vote Raymond Johnson for Commissioner in Precinct 2 and write-in Wesley McCollum for Commissioner in Precinct 4. Vote "Against" Proposition A. Let's make some progress and save some money for Titus County, instead of going back to the same old tired crap that never worked anyway.
