From the Down the Memory Hole Department

Red is the color historically associated with the Left worldwide. In most of the world it still is. Up until Ronald Reagan's victory in the 1980 Presidential election, Red States and Blue States were how Democrat and Republican states were colloquially referred to in the mainstream media.

This photo is a screen grab from the CBS News election night broadcast in 1980, hosted by Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather. As you can see, the traditional red and blue color scheme was still being followed.

By the 1984 election the colors were magically swapped so now Republicans were the reds and Democrats the blues. You can easily YouTube to see how the color scheme was swapped in four years.

The mainstream media have been the shills for the political Left and the Democratic Party since the Second World War. They've been poisoning American discourse with socialist propaganda for over 70 years. They laughed at Reagan, sneered at George W. Bush, and now have completely flipped their Communist craniums over Donald Trump.

Going back to Ronald Reagan, the handful of media moguls who arbitrarily flipped the color designations probably had wanted to see that same map above be a sea of red instead of true blue, and they vowed to turn it red in 1984. Ironically, their effort to disassociate red from Socialists and Communists not only didn't work, but in 1984 - when Reagan carried all states except Water Mondale's home of Minnesota - it backfired, for 1984 the map turned almost completely Republican Red.
