Straight talk about how the Unit Road System is working
Former Precinct One County Commissioner Don Boggs recently said on-line
"To be honest, I felt we should return to the previous system. After talking to former crew members from different precincts, I can’t recommend one over the other. After getting over my anger at some people making changes to things that weren’t broken just to flex their new found political muscles, I said, “If ANYBODY could make the unit system work in Titus County, that person is ROGER LEDBETTER!
"Well, Roger has put the unit system on a successful track and has impressed many of the old hands that know exactly what is the most efficient method. It was said by one of them that this summer was the most productive road building year he ever remembers.
"I trust the very competent guys on the trucks and motor graders to evaluate the efficiency of the system over those in the “peanut gallery”. Without the healthy competition between commissioners that occurred prior to 2017, to return to the precinct system would be questionable.
"Either way has it’s benefits but I wish you good luck getting commissioners to reduce their benefits considering the petty pot shots that come from people who think they know but, in actuality, don’t have the first clue! That happens to be a greater challenge than the roads."
There you have it. A former commissioner changing his mind and suggests keeping what we have, and more importantly, the road hands now supporting the New Unit System. Wow, what a turnaround! Let’s not go backwards, vote AGAINST the Proposition. And write in Wesley McCollum for Precinct 4 commissioner. A vote AGAINST the Proposition and a write in for Wesley McCollum go in the same direction. Do it.
If we get these two votes, there will a significant change as to how business is done at the commissioners court; otherwise, mostly business as usual.
