Flu season is upon us
Flu season is in full swing and we've already seen sick community members here at FCC, so we think it is only right to share some common symptoms of the flu. Please share this with your friends and family in an effort to prevent the spread of the flu.
Here are some symptoms to be aware of:
• Fatigue – Fatigue that comes on suddenly and is excessive may be the first sign of the flu.
• Body aches – It is easy to blame your body aches on a workout, a long day at work, or playing with the grandkids. You can ache anywhere, but pay close attention to those in the head, back, and legs.
• Chills – You may notice a chill with your body ache, or alone. Chills can manifest even before a fever, and not everyone will develop a fever with the flu.
• Cough – A cough that is persistent is a sign of any early respiratory illness, but may also be a warning sign of the flu. It is rare to cough up mucus in the flu’s early stage, but it can cause coughing with a wheeze and tightness to your chest. If you already have a respiratory illness like emphysema, or asthma see your doctor quickly to prevent more severe complications.
• Sore throat – Coughing that is related to the flu can lead to a sore throat rather fast. When the flu is in its early stages your throat may just feel irritated, or scratchy.
• Stomach upsets – Some of the flu strains can cause stomach upset and cause you to feel nauseous, vomit, have diarrhea, or stomach pain.
If you or a loved one suspects that they may have the flu, we would recommend going to see your care provider as soon as possible. Stay well during this#fluseason.
