Mount Pleasant man dies in San Marcos fire

Four of the five victims of a deadly July 20 fire at Iconic Village and Vintage Pads apartments in San Marcos have been identified by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office. The fifth victim of the fire remains unidentified pending DNA analysis.

The four identified include James Miranda of Mount Pleasant (born Dec. 9, 1994), 2013 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School.

The others are Haley Michele Frizzell of San Angelo (born July 10, 1999), David Ortiz of Pasadena (born May 11, 1997), and Dru Estes of San Antonio (born July 5, 1998)

All four were previously listed as missing, and all but James Miranda were Texas State University Students.

Still Listed as Missing is Belinda Moats of Big Wells (born Aug. 24, 1996)

The five victims were found in building 500 at Iconic Village apartments. San Marcos officials have been in constant communication with family members since Friday, July 20.
