Tiger tennis action


On Friday the Mount Pleasant High School varsity tennis team traveled to Hallsville to compete in their tournament. There were 12 schools in attendance. In the mixed doubles A division.
Dakota Elswick and Jennifer Figueroa finished 1st. They played Roberts/Cooley from Henderson and beat them (8-0). 
Their next match was against district rivals Aguilar/Hardaway from Greenville and Mount Pleasant came out on top (8-4). Elswick/Figueroa moved to the semifinals and had a tough match against Turner/ Pagaduan from Whitehouse. Elwick/Figueroa ended up defeating Whitehouse (9-7) and moved on to play Martinez/Gonzales from Jacksonville. Mount Pleasant beat Jacksonville 8-3 to win Gold.
In mixed doubles B division the team of Barron Newman and Averie Ayers finished just short of a medal. Ayers/Newman played Shoe/Soloman from Henderson and beat them (8-2). 

Their next opponents were Ruprecht/Mulder from Greenville. They defeated Greenville and moved on to the semifinals where they met up with Ayala/Coker from Palestine.
Newman/Ayers fell to Palestine (6-8) and had to take on Hodges/Breedlove from Bullard. Despite their well fought out match they fell short and lost (6-8). Ayers/Newman finished in 4th place.
