Police Chief Wayne Isbell says the police department was notified Sunday at 2:30 p.m. of an inappropriate political message on its Facebook page. The message was up for about one hour before it was noticed and reported.
"The message appeared to have come from the police department but did not," said Isbell. "The message was a repost to our account and included our police department icon. The message was removed as soon as we found out about it.
"The post does not represent this department in any way. The password to our account has been changed and we are investigating this incident. The Mount Pleasant Police Department does not and will not be engaged in politics or political pandering. Our function is to support this community as set forth by our Constitution, State Laws and City Ordinances."
"I apologize for the posted comment being on our page," he concluded.
