Suspect Held At Gunpoint By Homeowner - Arrested For Burglary

Overnight, Wednesday March 2nd at 3:30 a.m., Mount Pleasant Police responded to a burglary in progress in the 500 Block of West 5th Street.

The homeowner reported that a male subject was in his garage and was removing the tires from his 2003 Cadillac.

When officers arrived they found the homeowner holding the suspect at gun point in the rear of his garage. Officers found the vehicle up on blocks and the tires removed from the car.

The suspect was identified as 24 year old Jose Luis Martinez Jr. of Mount Pleasant. He was charged with Residential Burglary (Felony-2), since the vehicle was parked in the homeowner’s garage at the time of the theft.

Martinez was transported and booked into the Titus County Jail. His bail has not been set.
