Aggravated Robbery and Burglary Suspect's Arrested After Short Vehicle Pursuit


Tuesday morning at 1:00 AM Mount Pleasant Police Officers responded to a burglary in progress at James Mini Mart located at 1012 N. Jefferson. Two suspects were seen on store surveillance breaking into the business and taking items. A third suspect was in a nearby getaway vehicle.

Officers on scene recognized the vehicle from an earlier encounter with the subjects. While working the burglary an armed robbery call was dispatched at the E-Z Mart located at 1201 E. Ferguson.

While officers were responding, the suspect vehicle from the burglary and robbery was spotted in the 600 Block of E. Ferguson.

The suspect driver drove into Dellwood Park and a short pursuit occurred. During the pursuit officers observed a gun being tossed from the suspect vehicle. Officers were able to take into custody two 17 year old adults and one 16 year old juvenile after the vehicle came to a stop. The weapon tossed from the vehicle was recovered.

Arrested were 17 year old Cesar Antonio Roque and Gustavo Alfredo Perez. The 16 year old arrested is not being identified due to his age. All suspects are Mount Pleasant residents.

All three suspects were charged with:

• Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon – Felony 1, $50,000 Bail
• Burglary of a Building – State Jail Felony, $10,000 Bail
• Engaging in Organized Crime – Felony 1, $25,000 Bail

Roque and Perez were released to jail staff at the Titus County Jail. The juvenile was transported and released to the Gregg County Juvenile Detention Center.
