Long Time Law Enforcement Official Retiring Tuesday

Mount Pleasant Police Lieutenant Sharyn Cary is retiring Tuesday. Sharyn is leaving the department as the Patrol Commander after 10 years and 6 months of dedicated service to the City of Mount Pleasant.

Law Enforcement is Lt. Cary's second carrier. After retiring from the U.S. Army, she joined the Gatesville Police Department in 1998. She came to the Mount Pleasant Police Department in 2005.

"Lt. Cary deeply cares about her officers and protecting this community," said Police Chief Wayne Isbell. "She has been a driving force for implementing new agency projects and getting officers trained to support operational needs.

"She has also been a huge part of the First Responders Respond Foundation, formally known as Blue Christmas. Not only are we losing a vast amount of experience on Tuesday, we are losing a good person who has been greatly involved in helping people in need."

It’s not all tears for MPPD. Lt. Cary will maintain a Reserve Peace Officer’s status at the agency. Although retired, she will still instruct courses for the PD and regional law enforcement as a volunteer.

If you would like to congratulate Lt. Sharyn Cary on her retirement, there will be a reception for her at City Hall on Tuesday March 15th, at 3 p.m.
