Vehicle Burglary Suspect Detained by Good Samaritans

On Monday, Jan. 4, at approximately 7 p.m. Mount Pleasant Poice Dept. officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of West 1st St in reference to several witnesses and victim detaining a car burglary suspect. The offense occurred in the 300 block of Linda St.

The victim to the offense was walking out to his vehicle by his residence. When he approached his vehicle a suspect, later identified as 23 year old Samuel Gallardo of Mount Pleasant, was observed in the front cab of the truck then took off running.

The victim gave chance on foot through the residential neighborhood. Two good Samaritans saw the victim chasing the suspect and assisted in detaining Gallardo, holding him to the ground until police arrived.

Gallardo, was taken into custody and booked into the Titus County Jail for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Bail is pending arraignment.
