Freeze warning


The National Weather Service in Shreveport continues the lake wind advisory for Saturday and has issued a freeze warning...which goes into effect at midnight tonight...until 9 am Sunday.

A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

A north wind of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph will usher in arctic air today. Overnight the temperatures will drop below freezing after midnight and slowly warm after sunrise.

Northwest winds will increase early Saturday morning with the passage of an arctic cold front and remain breezy all day. Overnight the winds will slack and temperatures will fall.

Boaters should exercise caution due to rough chop on area lakes today. overnight...a freeze will affect tender vegetation with upper 20s and low 30s by daybreak. A lake wind advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes. small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
