AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today endorsed Cole Hefner for re-election as State Representative. Representative Hefner is a fierce defender of East Texas values, and worked tirelessly to secure school finance and property tax reform this session. Governor Abbott is grateful for Representative Hefner’s hard work to keep Texas the best state in the nation.
“I am proud to endorse Cole Hefner for re-election, and I am grateful for the role he played this session to rein in property taxes and reform our school finance system” said Governor Abbott. “Thanks to Representative Hefner’s leadership, Texas remains on a path toward even greater prosperity. I hope the people of East Texas will join me in supporting him for another term in the Texas House.”
A native East Texan, Cole Hefner lives in Mount Pleasant. He was elected state representative for House District 5 in May 2016. Prior to being elected to the Texas House of Representatives, Cole served as county commissioner for Upshur County and, while in office, was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation because of his service to veterans.

Cole spent 16 years in the construction industry, where he owned his own business, and eventually took over the management of his family's commercial construction company. Currently, he is a small business owner in the insurance industry, and he understands the importance of hard work and conservative values.
He has been married to his wife, Kerri, since 2002, and they have seven wonderful children. As a private pilot, he enjoys flying in his free time.
