In preparation for Koean War Veterans Day July 27) The Titus County Historical Commission Merit Award has been presented to SFC L.D. Summerlin Memorial Park, located near the intersection of CR 1200 and CR 1165 across from the Historic 1st United Methodist Church. SFC Summerlin awarded Silver Star Medal (Posthumous) for his actions in going to the aid of his fallen Company Commander while under heavy direct enemy machine gun fire from multiple locations in 1950.
