Tx DOT needs to train its employees to be respectful of our flag. This pathetic excuse for an American had the nerve to tell a Navy vet “what’s the big deal if it’s on the ground?” If you are too stupid or apathetic to handle a fallen flag then at least get someone to do it for you.
TxDOT and its employees have the utmost respect for our state and nation's flags. During the severe thunderstorms in the area Sunday evening, the American and Texas flags flying over the TxDOT Area Office in Mt. Pleasant were damaged along with the rope supporting them. The Texas flag was ripped completely off the flag pole and while trying to lower the American flag for replacement, the rope broke and the American flag fell to the ground. The crew was working to replace the damaged rope and flags when this photo was taken. The flags were damaged beyond use and will be disposed of properly. Our employees also deny saying anything of the like to the person who took the photo.
