Mount Pleasant firefighters rescue child from burning mobile home



At 7:22 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department - along with the Argo, Tri-Lakes, Sugar Hill, 5-Star, Cookville, Nortex and Talco volunteer fire departments - responded to a report of a mobile home fire at 11 Private Road 3234.

White en route to the call the fire dispatcher advised responding unit that a child was in the home. The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department arrived to find the mobile home well involved in fire and the bystanders stating the child was in the home.

Mt. Pleasant Fire Department Captain Adam Decker and Firefighters Stuart Thompson and Caleb Daniels entered the burning structure fighting fire as they made their way to a rear bedroom where they located the child.

The firefighters rescued the child and made their way out of the structure. Once outside the burning home the firefighters determined the child was unconscious and not breathing. Captain Craig Eudy and Firefighter Brian Fairchild began CPR and continued it until Titus Regional EMS units arrived on scene and took over patient care.

The child was transported to Titus Regional Medical Center by Titus Regional EMS ambulance. Firefighters finished extinguishing the mobile home fire which was heavily damaged. The fire is under investigation at this time to determine the origin and cause.
