Statement from Mount Pleasant Police Department on recent murder

On Friday Aug. 31, at 1:24 am, Officer(s) responded to the area of West Pecan Street in reference to a 911 call.

When officers arrived they were directed to the intersection of S. O’Tyson Ave and Rhambeau Street to look for a deceased shooting victim. Officer(s) located the deceased person who is identified as 21 year-old D'Marlon Johnson of Pittsburg, Texas.

Mount Pleasant Detectives have identified witnesses and several suspects related to the homicide. The shooting is believed to be drug related. Precious Caress Rockwell, 32, has been arrested for murder and is being held in the Titus County Jail on a $1 million bond, according to the Titus County Sheriffs Office.

This is an ongoing criminal investigation.
