Ya' missed one!

Sheriff Tim Ingram is always on the lookout for positive things that can be done to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Titus County. His efforts have included using county inmates to pick up litter along country roads. In some instances this has been in the form of picking up all litter along some stretches or entire lengths of some country roads in various parts of Titus County. In other instances, county inmates have been sent out to clean up some large piles of litter or large items that have been illegally discarded along Titus County roads. Those efforts are ongoing.
It is not lost on Sheriff Ingram and his deputies that there are a few pot holes along the country roads. The problem is more noticeable after we have a good hard rain. Sheriff Ingram has recently put another plan into action to help make the roads better in Titus County. He is now sending small inmate work details out into the county to patch pot holes along the country road. Like with the litter details, each inmate crew is closely supervised by an armed jailer or deputy. A truck and asphalt is provided by county to help with this activity.
Inmates chosen to participate in such details are carefully chosen from the jail population to be allowed to participate in litter abatement and road repair activities. The inmates carrying out such activities normally prefer to be out doing something outside the jail and it offers them an opportunity to provide something positive back to the community.
Sheriff Ingram says that any and all county owned roads are on the radar as needed and when manpower and resources permit. It will not be an overnight process by any means but he believes we are getting off to a positive start of something good for the citizens of Titus County. Sheriff Ingram keeps his finger on the pulse of any such activity as well as progress made and is always on the lookout for better ways he and his office can better serve our community.
The Titus County Jail adheres to Texas State Jail Commission Rules and Regulations as to conditions, where and when inmates can be used to perform such tasks.
