Dr. Kevin Rose, NTCC Associate Vice President for. Workforce Development. will present "The Sentient Machine: Teaching and Learning in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" for the Program for Learning and Community Engagement (PLACE) at Texas A&M University-Texarkana on the Northeast Texas Community College campus.
The lecture will take place in the NTCC HUM 101 (the Humanities Community Room) from 12:20-1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20. It is free and open to the public.
During the lecture, Dr. Rose will attempt to answer the questions: What does the age of the sentient machine mean for society and learning? Will robots be able to learn faster than humans? Will they ultimately take over the humans’ roles, and thus creating a ‘jobless future’ for the human race? What will humans need to learn if robots are the ones performing the work?
PLACE is a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprising A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large. PLACE chooses an annual theme around which to organize a lecture series and other activities that provide focal points for learning and discussion. This year’s theme is “science and technology.”
