Mount Pleasant seeks Economic Development Corporation Executive Director



Located in Northeast Texas, the City of Mount Pleasant is the county seat and largest city of Titus County. The City operates under the council-manager form of governance and has five Council members, including the Mayor.

The City Council hires a professional City Manager to manage the day-today operations of the City. The mission of the Mount Pleasant Economic Development Corporation (MPEDC) is to promote economic development in the City of Mount Pleasant and Titus County by supporting initiatives designed to increase jobs and private investment in the primary manufacturing sector through real property development, workforce education, and infrastructure extension.

The City seeks a new EDC Executive Director who is a driven, energetic, and experienced economic development professional. This is a management level position exercising strategic and visionary thinking in economic development initiatives on behalf of the City of Mount Pleasant and the Mount Pleasant EDC. The Executive Director facilitates sustainable economic growth and development in all aspects of the City’s economic development programs pertaining to industrial and commercial business recruitment, business retention and expansion, and incentive negotiations. The ideal candidate will be an outgoing, approachable individual with excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to thoroughly research, evaluate, and effectively present information to City Council, staff, businesses, developers, and residents, and exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with vendors and the public.
The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business management, economic development, or a related field from an accredited college or university; a master’s degree is preferred. Five years of progressively responsible professional level experience in economic development programs pertaining to industrial, commercial, and residential business recruitment, retention, expansion, and incentive negotiations, with three or more years of supervisory experience, is required. The selected candidate must live within Titus County and have a CEcD from the International Economic Development Council. Knowledge of Type A EDCs is preferred.
