Weather Advisory for Mount Pleasant Area:
Melting of the snow and ice occurred this afternoon especially on the well-traveled roads. A clearing of sky will allow for temperatures to quickly fall into the teens and lower 20s this evening, allowing for areas of black ice to redevelop on roadways, bridges, and overpasses. This issue will linger through much of Wednesday as temperatures struggle to reach freezing.
Temperatures will fall further into the lower and middle teens areawide tonight, resulting in a hard freeze. Thus, a National Weather Service Hard Freeze Warning remains in effect tonight through 10 am Wednesday. In addition, north winds around 10 mph will result in wind chill readings in the single digits areawide tonight through Wednesday morning.
Impacts: Travel will become treacherous tonight through much of Wednesday on many primary and secondary roadways, bridges and overpasses. Be sure exposed pipes are wrapped, bring pets inside, and ensure that those that do not have adequate heating have a means to keep warm.
