Richard Lindsey service is Saturday

Richard Hugh Lindsey passed away on January 3, 2018 at his home in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He was born on October 16, 1924 to the late Marion and Amelia Lindsey in Winnsboro, Texas. He was the last of 8 children. He graduated from Winnsboro High School and went on to retire from Lone Star Steel in 1985 after 34 years of service.

Hugh was very active in masonry, becoming a mason in Winnsboro, Texas in 1948. He was a member of Temple Lodge #70 A.F. & A.M. in Mount Pleasant where in 2013, he received the Golden Trowel Award for his devoted service to Masonic principles. He was also a member of the Shriners and of the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Talley Lindsey of Mount Pleasant. Also surviving are 6 nephews, Charles Brewer and wife Sherri, Jerry Lindsey and wife Pat, James Spilker and wife Sharra, William Spilker and wife Vicky, Thomas Spilker and wife Lynda, Glenn Lindsey and wife Judy; 5 nieces Sara Pollard, Barbara Cissne and husband John, Marjorie Booker and husband Lowell, Cheryl Davidson and husband Bobby, and Patricia Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Herbert, Hillary, Herschel, and Hasting; and 3 sisters, Beatrice, Bertha, and Bonnie Fay.

Hugh was a kind and generous man, much beloved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed. His legacy lives on in their hearts.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the service following at 11:00 AM at the church with Dr. Clint Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
