Glynda Sears passes away

Glynda Joyce Sears (Skidmore), of Mount Pleasant, Texas, died peacefully at home on January 25, 2018. She was 68 years old.

Glynda was born on September 3, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to Harold and Maxine Skidmore. She was a beloved teacher and educator in Mount Pleasant and Titus County for 40 years. Most of her career was dedicated to serving special needs students, becoming an advocate, a mentor, and a friend. As a single mother to five boys, she cherished her family, teaching them perseverance, courage, and compassion for others.

Glynda is survived by her father, Harold Skidmore; her brother, Dr. Jerry Skidmore; her sisters Lynn Skidmore and Vicki Anderson; her children, Mark McGee, Greg McGee, Kyle Sears, Kale Sears, and Kary Sears; and her nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother,
Maxine Skidmore.

She will be remembered for her love for her family and her students. She poured her life out for the sake of others.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral is scheduled for 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Texas, with interment to follow at Liberty Cemetery.
