Centenarian passes away

Lou Ella Turman, 100, of Mount Pleasant, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born on February 7, 1917 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to James Simpson and Alma (Evans) Hobbs and passed away on January 7, 2018 in Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. Turman was a member of the Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church and was retired as a bookkeeper for a Chevrolet dealership.

She was survived by her daughter and  son-in-law, Peggy & Dick Templeton; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Linda Turman; grandchildren and spouses, Rich and Cathy Templeton, Steven Templeton, Diana and Lou Gabriel, Christiana and Britton Keene, Kimberly and Travis Weatherred; great grandchildren, Andrew Templeton, Richard Templeton, Jr., Sean Templeton, Lucas Gabriel, Kenzie Sperling, Ella Gabriel, Chloe Keene, Daegan Weatherred; great great grandchild, Madelyne Templeton; sister, Beatrice Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Turman; parents, James Simpson and Alva (Evans) Hobbs; brother, Dean Hobbs; sisters, Mildred Thornton & Wanda Roach & three infant siblings.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cypress Basin Hospice at 207 Morgan Street, Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455

A visitation will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Bates Cooper Sloan Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 16, 2018 in the Bates Cooper Sloan Chapel. Interment will follow in the Farmers Academy Cemetery.
