Contractors began last week installing the new tower at Fair Park which will be 50 ft higher than the existing 300 ft tower.
It will be 100 % paid for by Verizon Wireless and owned by the City of Mount Pleasant.
The project will benefit not only wireless phone service but also will greatly enhance emergency communications.
