Through truck traffic prohibited on specified streets

Have you ever wondered what this sign means? Cities can regulate large truck routes and prohibit through traffic in certain areas. Mount Pleasant has two specific streets going through downtown that limits large trucks using downtown roads as a pass through.

No through truck traffic shall be allowed on the following streets within the city:

(1) Jefferson Street, between State Highway 49 and U.S. Highway 67;

(2) Madison Avenue, between its intersection with North Jefferson Street (at approximately East 9th Street) and extending to State Highway 49.

Driving a large 18-wheeler through downtown without stopping to make a delivery is prohibited.
