Special presentation

During Tuesday night’s National Night Out, Officer Angel Mendoza (right) presented Assistant Chief Kyle Holcomb and the entire Mount Pleasant Police Department a plaque in honor of the care packages the department sent to his platoon while they were deployed in Iraq.

Mendoza stated the packages could not have come at a better time for his platoon and it was a huge morale booster for the entire group.

On the Plaque is the Unit patch for the 282nd Engineer Company, a weathered Mount Pleasant Police Department patch, and a certificate with a picture of a solider with a tactical vehicle in background with our police department patch mounted to the front of the vehicle.

The certificate states the following;
“This is to certify that the accompanying patch was carried with great pride and honor during the initial push into Qayyarah (Q-West), Irag, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and the fight to defeat ISIL. This patch was carried on a convoy into Q-West on the 26th of August 2016, and remained on a tactical vehicle as a morale symbol for 2nd Platoon, 282nd En Co.”

The Mount Pleasant Police Department will proudly display this plaque in our police station for all to see. Thank you very much Officer Mendoza and the 2nd Platoon of the 282nd Engineer Company for this honor. MPPD staff would like to thank all the men and women that are currently serving or have served in our armed services.
