Seven Mt. Pleasant High School Goin’ Gold Band members have earned placement in the All-Region Honor Jazz Band: three Juniors (Carlos Lopez – trombone, Jose Martinez – trumpet, and Maria Mendez – trombone) and four Seniors (Jesus Garrett – trombone, Addison Hunter – bass guitar/upright bass, Blake Moulton – Drums and Allan Ruan – alto saxophone). This is the second year in a row that Garrett, Hunter and Mendez have earned position in the All-Region Jazz Band.

The seven Mount Pleasant High School members make up 41% of the All-Region Jazz Band. MPHS students earned one of the two alto saxophone positions, one of the four trumpet positions, three of the four trombone positions, the only drummer and only bass guitarist in the band.

“Auditioning for the All-Region Jazz Band is not easy. Each student auditions individually before a panel of judges,” said Dr. Judi Saxton, MPISD’s Director of Communications. “The District is extremely proud of this group of young musicians who took on that challenge and we congratulate them on their success.”
