"I was pleased that Governor Abbott called for a Special Session to address conservative priorities that did not get accomplished in the 85th Regular Session. I am proud that we were able to pass some crucial legislation during the Special, including pro-life priorities and a bill addressing municipal annexation.
"Although I am thrilled to be back in East Texas and spending time with family and friends, I firmly believe our work in Austin is not done. We were so close to getting meaningful conservative policies enacted, many of which have been worked on for years by conservative lawmakers. State spending limits, meaningful property tax reform, and a privacy bill are a few of the issues I would like to see addressed.
"I would like to see Governor Abbott bring the Legislature back to Austin for a second Special Session to address conservative issues. While it's difficult to be away from our families and homes, the legislature exists to accomplish the work of the people of Texas. If that means heading back to Austin I stand ready and willing."
