Two MPHS Students Qualify for National Debate Tournament!


Two Mount Pleasant High School students will be in Birmingham, Alabama in June representing the school at the National Speech and Debate Tournament.

Senior Jamie Adams, the daughter of Jason and Amy Adams, qualified for the tournament in Program of Oral Interpretation.

Junior Nathon Segovia, the son of Jose and Jehovana Segovia, was selected to represent this NSDA District on the World Schools Debate Team.

“Jamie and Nathon will be the first two students in the history of our High School to represent Mount Pleasant High School at the National Tournament,” said Dr. Judi Saxton, MPISD’s Director of Communication. “We are incredibly proud of them and congratulate them on this achievement. We also congratulate their coach Cody Morris. We wish them well and know they will be great representatives of the Mt. Pleasant community.”

The tournament is June 11-17, 2017 in Birmingham, Alabama.
