Every child has a chance, it's YOU!

CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris Counties is pleased to announce the graduating class of March 2017: from left to right, Brandon Peters, Yolanda Gonzalez, Shakeshia High, Kiosio Fields, Chasity Kent and Vernest "Penny" Crenshaw.

The new CASA volunteer advocates took an oath before the Honorable Virginia Schnarr in Titus County Child Protective Services Court Friday.

All of the CASA advocates completed 30 hours of training and court room observation. Each CASA volunteer advocate will be assigned a case that may include a child or sibling group that was removed from their home due to abuse and neglect.

CASA volunteers work for the best interest of the child/children making sure they have a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

Kiosio and Penny heard about CASA from a community wide church meeting held at Greater Hope Church of God in Christ in Mt. Pleasant, pastored by Brother Rundles.

"The church meeting is the first of many to come." stated Michelle Cobern, Executive Director of CASA. "We have several more CASA advocates in training that attended the community wide church meeting at Brother Rundles Church."

As the spokes person for CASA, Cobern expressed the urgency in recruiting and training advocates that are as diverse as the children we serve. The church families in Mt Pleasant, Pittsburg, Daingerfield, Omaha, Naples and Lone Star need to know that there are opportunities for them to make a difference in a child's life.

"CASA has 72 programs in the state of Texas and our CASA program is the 71st." Cobern stated. We work with a great team of Attorneys, CPS Investigators and CPS Caseworkers on a daily basis. CASA volunteers are citizens in our community, just like you, that want to make a difference in a child/children's life while they are removed from their families and placed in foster care."
