When Elvis visited Mount Pleasant

A 21-year old Elvis Presley performed in Mount Pleasant early in his career.

A little piece of historical trivia: Elvis Presley performed at the Mount Pleasant American Legion Hall the night of Dec. 3, 1954, before moving on to a performance at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium the next day.

    I saw him getting a coke at the Gulf Station..my mom was there watching the band..we had walked to the station for some reason..and he came in got a coke..I had no idea who he was, but I remember that hair..I was about 9..

    He also stopped at cullpeppers gun shop on 67. He bought a matched set of pistols and a double holster. My husband saw him there. He didn't know who he was until later someone told him. My husband was 11 or 12.
