Commissioners to meet Friday to discuss hiring County Road Engineer

Titus County Commissioners are having a Special Meeting at the court house on Friday Dec 9th at 9.00 a.m. to discuss the hiring of the County Road Engineer.

Titus County voters approved adopting the Unit Road system in a referendum held in conjunction with the Nov. 8 general election.

At the Nov. 14 Commissioners Court regular meeting, Al Riddle proposed and the court unanimously approved the following resolution:

"As it will take a few weeks to hire a County Road Engineer I propose that in the interim, until the Road Engineer is in place:

"1. Commissioners continue to supervise their road crews on a day to day basis.

"2. No new road hands are hired.

"3. No road crew employee receives changes to their pay or benefits, except for county wide benefit changes.

"4. No new or used vehicles or other road equipment is purchased or sold.

"5. Commissioners only purchase sufficient road building material to last two months

"6. Vehicle and equipment maintenance is kept to normal schedules."
