Camp County Jury convicts Octavious Lamar Rhymes for Murder

Octavious Lamar Rhymes
Thursday Evening, Dec. 8th, , after hearing three days of testimony, a Camp County Jury found 30-year old Octavious Lamar Rhymes guilty of the murder of Ernest Lee Ibarra.

The jury sentenced Rhymes to 75 years confinement with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, along with a recommendation for a $10,000.00 fine.

The conviction stemmed from the death of Titus County resident Ernest Lee Ibarra, who was forcibly kidnapped from his residence in Titus County and later murdered in Camp County on Feb. 20th, 2015.

On June 28th of this year, Rhymes was convicted of Aggravated Kidnapping for which he received a sentence of 23 years for his role in the kidnapping of Ibarra.

During Thursday's sentencing, the court ruled the 75 year sentence would be served consecutively in addition to the previous 23 year sentence Rhymes received.

Two of Rhyme’s three co-defendants have now been convicted of both the Aggravated kidnapping and Murder of Ernest Lee Ibarra.
