Firearms taken in daylight burglary


The Titus County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a residential burglary which took place on the 2700 block of County Road 3245 in the northeast portion of the county.

During daylight hours on Wednesday morning October 19th burglars forced entry into a residence while the occupants were not at home. Numerous firearms were stolen from the residence along with some other miscellaneous items.

One of the firearms that were stolen was a commemorative Winchester lever action rifle, which is very unique.

If any citizen has had an unexpected and unknown visitor to their residence in Titus County for any reason, they are asked to contact the Titus County Sheriff’s Office at (903) 572-6641 and provide any description they might have. Titus County Sheriff’s Office is also asking anyone who observes any firearm for sale that might be the commemorative rifle, to notify the Sheriff’s Office.

TCSO strongly recommend that any resident, make use of one or more inexpensive surveillance cameras that are currently on the market. Citizens are asked to call in on any vehicle or person they find to be suspicious with the best description possible.

It should be pointed out that most residential burglaries occur during daylight hours, normally in the morning. In most cases, the burglars will knock or ring the doorbell several times in an effort to determine that no one is at home. If the resident happens to answer they will most likely use some sort an excuse for being there that might not sound suspicious to the resident and then be on their way.
