Chief Says Creepy Clown sighting at Masonic Cemetery "staged"

UPDATE: Police Chief Wayne Isbell says "The police department believes the incident was staged to draw attention. No offense was committed. Those dressing up in clown costumes who provoke people put themselves in a dangerous situation. People in fear of assault can protect themselves.  Those individuals  who provoke a fight will be held accountable by law enforcement."

Three Mount Pleasant teens using the skatepark at Edwards Park Thursday posted a video purporting to show a so-called "creepy clown" at the adjacent Masonic Cemetery.

Sightings across the United States of creepy clowns with red lips and fixed smiles have become anything but a laughing matter and have cast a menacing tone as Halloween approaches.

Since late August, there have been widespread reports of scary-looking clowns lurking in woods, appearing on dark roads or - in this case - walking through a cemetery.
