Joe Byram passes away


Joe Byram of Cookville passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 83 years of age. He was born in Avery, on December 28, 1932 to Fred and Tressie (Crump) Byram.

Joe honorably served his country in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith and a rancher.

He leaves his two daughters, Linda and her husband David Hamm of Mount Pleasant and Lisa and her husband Craig Swanner of Scroggins, Texas; four grandchildren, Cole Swanner, MacKenzie Swanner, Bailey Swanner and Jennifer Veal; two great grandchildren, Josie and Noah Veal; brother, Buddy Penny of Omaha, Texas; and his sister, Verline and her husband Richard Cantu of Wichita Falls, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Nobie Byram.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel. Interment will follow at the Coopers Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
