Down Memory Lane - June 20, 2016

Today's photo from our 1980s archives is unusual - the note on the back clearly indicates what it is, the junior class play. But what year and who these people are, we have no idea.

  1. November 21 and 23, 1985. MPHS IMAGE MAKERS. Teacher/Director: Eve Hoppock (now Eve Raine). For both the 1985-86 and 1986-87 school years, the MPHS IMAGE MAKERS won numerous acting awards in those years' UIL One-Act Play contests. The spring of '86 one-act entry (A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG) won zone, district, area, and was named alternate at the regional contest. The spring of '87 one-act (THIEVES)won zone, district, area, regional, and competed at the state UIL contest. Yes, the above photo was the Junior Class Play the fall of 1985. Pictured above are David Djang (who played "Mortimer") and Marie Nuchols (who played one of the old ladies, either "Abby" or "Martha"--both of whom out of the kindness of their hearts, fed a wee bit of arsenic into the tea sipped by lonely old gentleman ... just to put them out of their misery!). Some of the MPHS actors from these two years were Mark Wilhite, Melissa Mull, Paul Hankins, Lori Hayley, Marie Nuchols, Scott Nuchols, Erica McCord, Angie Butler, Toni Ward, Tom (the veterinarian's son! forgot lost name), Laura Ridge--just to name some!
