Former Sheriff Ricky Poole passes away

Ricky Wayne Poole of Mount Pleasant passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at 59 years of age. He was born on October 26, 1956 in Mount Pleasant to JoAnn (Forsythe) and Harald Poole.

Ricky graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1975; he then attended Kilgore College Police Academy. He had a great love for his profession of law enforcement and the citizens of Mount Pleasant and Titus County; serving for both the Mount Pleasant Police Department and the Titus County Sheriff’s Department and later serving as Sheriff. He resigned May 20, 1999, and was replaced by Arvel Shepherd.

Ricky was currently working Construction Safety Management. Ricky was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Poole of Mount Pleasant, Lora Robison Poole of Henderson, and Gay Poole of Mount Pleasant; aunt Inete Black of Daingerfield and uncle,Glynn Forsythe of Talco; numerous cousins.

Ricky is preceded in death by his parent and his grandparents, Leonard and Montie Poole and Alta France.

A Memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.  Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel. The family request memorials be made to the Shelter Agencies for Families, 204 Patrick Street, Mount Pleasant, Texas.
