Vine-ripened Tomato Sandwich ~ That’s Perfect for Me!

By RENE CURRY McCRACKEN

Some of us are really blessed. Not because of fame and fortune but for the wonderful "little things" that we get to experience. Those little things that give us joy and hope and somehow in little ways they keep us youthful and healthy in a world that can really weigh us down.

For me - one of my simple things is the planting and growing and especially eating my own fresh vegetables. It never ceases to amaze me to walk through the process taught by my grandparents and eat that vine ripened tomato sandwich. I swear each time it connects me to my childhood and my grandparents and no matter what life and circumstances might be - just for a while all is right in my world.

If you would like to share in my gardening experiences - you are invited to attend our NTCC Ag Plant Sale this Saturday - April 23rd from 9 to 2 pm. Come purchase a variety of vegetable plants, herbs, flowers and shrubs.

Available this day only is our NTCC Compost Tea ~ ready to improve your soil, garden, lawn or plants just $3 per gallon. You can also purchase some of my herbed pot roast and veggies - just $8! Togo orders ready for your freezer $10 each. We will have our gardens open and you are welcome to see our tips on growing in adverse conditions.

For more information you can contact me at 903-434-8367 or rmccracken@ntcc.edu. or connect with us on facebook at NTCC Ag Department.
