SWAT team nabs fugitive in midnight raid

The location was identified as a retail center known as the “B&A Center” at 201 East 1st.
Shortly after midnight, Friday Morning, April 8, a Titus County Sheriff's Investigator, received information from a reliable source, that fugitive felon, 32-year old Eduardo Flores, was living inside a garage, owned and operated by one of Flores’ relatives.

The location was identified as a retail center known as the “B&A Center” located at 201 East 1st, St. within the City Limits of Mount Pleasant. The B&A Center is a building which houses several independent businesses, including an automotive shop and a restaurant.

The investigator joined other Titus County Sheriff’s Deputies and went to the location. When they knocked and announced their identity the deputies heard what was believed to be both male and female voices inside the automotive shop portion of the B&A Center.

Deputies also heard what they believed to have been someone moving things around inside, a sound they believed to be consistent with someone preparing to barricade the entrance to that portion of the building.

Members of the Titus County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team (ERT) and several Mount Pleasant Police Department Officers responded to aid in containing the suspected fugitive inside the building.

At that time, the Titus County Sheriff’s Investigator prepared and presented an affidavit for a search warrant to District Judge Robert Rolston, authorizing the officers to make entry into the building and to search for Flores.

Deputies had prior knowledge of Flores having been armed in the past, while he was already a felon. Deputies also heard the male inside the building make statements to the effect, that he was “not going back to prison.”

For these reasons, the Emergency Response Team Crisis Negotiator was summoned to the scene who - along with Flore’s relatives - attempted to talk Flores into surrendering. With those efforts failing, a chemical teargas devise was deployed into the building; still Flores would not exit the building.

Only after all other efforts to get Flores to peacefully exit the building had failed, members of both the Titus County Sheriff’s Office and Mount Pleasant Police Department’s Emergency Response Teams made entry into the building.

Once inside, the officers observed that the suspect(s) had apparently broken through partition walls and ceilings causing extensive damage while attempting to hide within other compartments of the adjoining restaurant. During the search of the building, evidence of possession of methamphetamine was found in the area where Flores was believed to have been residing.

Eventually, Eduardo Flores and a 20-year old female accomplice Harlee Hill were found hidden inside a cabinet and both were subsequently arrested for multiple offenses and warrants.

Eduardo Flores was arrested for the following offenses:
• Felony Revocation of Parole Warrant
