The Mount Pleasant High School chapter of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is pleased to announce results from the Area 3 Leadership Conference and competition on Saturday, February 20. Nine MPHS students advanced to the State Competition which will take place in Galveston, April 13-17. More than 1,700 other students competed for these coveted positions.
The Area 3 HOSA Scholarship Recipient is MPHS senior Omar Ramirez. He will now compete for the State HOSA scholarship.
Also advancing to State competition are: Andrea Becerra who took 1st place in Extemporaneous Poster and 3rd place in Medical Art Poster. MPHS swept the field in Medical Art Poster with Elias Reyes placing 1st and Juan Castanon placing 2nd. Adriana Rodriguez placed 3rd in Nursing Assistant while Angela Garza placed 5th in Medical Reading.
Other state qualifiers are Jacob Baker in Health Care Issues, Zach Luker in Chapter Reflections and Tessa Land also in Chapter Reflections.
“The Mount Pleasant High School Health Science program continues to be successful in Area and State competitions, many times competing against Health Science Magnet Schools,” said Dr. Judi Saxton, MPISD Director of Communication. “Congratulations to these students for their achievements and we wish them luck at State in April.”
