Two home invasions thwarted

The Titus County Sheriff's Office says that at around 1:00 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 30th, two possible home invasions were attempted in separate parts of Titus County.

In one instance a resident on FM 21 in the southwest part of Titus County, reported that two subjects had attempted to make entry to the residence; however the unidentified suspects fled wearing what was described as dark colored hoodies, when the homeowner began to exit the residence.

A similar incident was reported that had occurred within only a few minutes in the southeast portion of Titus County along FM 1000 near highway 49. In the second incident, it is believed that two persons fled the residence when they heard the homeowner work the action of a firearm.

Night time burglaries of occupied residences are rare in Texas but they do occur. The Titus County Sheriff’s Office would suggest that residents should always take steps to secure their homes and we especially encourage citizens to report any suspicious activities or persons.

The Titus County Sheriff’s Office has increased patrols in these and other residential areas of the county and on the look out for any such activity.
