This is a difficult reminder that even though we are in the midst of a global pandemic, the Texas spring storm season is here as well. Please take time now to register for emergency alerts here at: www.tituscountyalerts.com
Also, make sure you have a plan to take shelter that everyone in your household understands.
This includes:
At Your House: Designate a safe room or an interior room away from windows. Don't forget pets if time allows. A mobile home is not considered a safe structure. If you live in a mobile home, you need to pay attention to weather alerts and plan to go to a safe structure such as the home of a friend or relative well before the storm is expected. Please note: the Titus Regional Medical Center is not open to the public for sheltering due to COVID-10.
Outside: Seek shelter inside a sturdy building immediately if a tornado is approaching. Sheds, storage facilities, trailers and tents are not safe. If you have time, get to a safe building.
In a vehicle: Being in a vehicle during a tornado is not safe. The best course of action is to drive to the closest shelter. If you are unable to make it to a safe shelter, either get down in your car and cover your head, or abandon your car and seek shelter in a low lying area such as a ditch or ravine.
