MOUNT PLEASANT - Cypress Basin Hospice is proud to announce its partnership with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s We Honor Veterans program.

The We Honor Veterans program is a no cost program offered to hospice organizations. The goal of the program is simple – to care for and honor those who have served when they reach the end of life.
By working through the four partner levels and participating in community partnerships and collaborations, partner organizations are able to educate, engage, and expand awareness to Veterans and their families.

A vast majority of Veterans are not enrolled in VA and may not be aware of end-of-life services and benefits available to them, including the Medicare Hospice Benefit and VA-paid hospice care.
As one of the first acts of duty through the We Honor Veterans program, Yorri Massey, Volunteer Services Coordinator and Amanda Gray, RN, Community Nurse Liaison for Cypress Basin Hospice, honored and pinned Cypress Basin Hospice Medical Director Dr. Gordon Bertram Strom, Jr.

Dr. Strom proudly served in the United States Air Force and the United States Army. Cypress Basin Hospice recognizes Dr. Strom’s sacrifices and loyalty to our country and graciously thank him for his service.

The We Honor Veterans program for Cypress Basin Hospice is one of the many volunteer programs our organization offers. Cypress Basin Hospice is currently recruiting Veterans who are interested in volunteering to honor Veteran patients on our hospice service.

If you are interested in learning more about the We Honor Veterans program and how you can get involved, please contact Yorri Massey at 903-577-1510.
