You should call your orthopedist for any of the following: 

1. If you have sustained a traumatic or repetitive motion injury to a bone, joint, or tendon

2. If you have difficulty performing daily activities 

3. Pain in muscles, tendons, or joints that persists for more than 48 hours

4. Joint pain that becomes more intense during periods of rest (waking you at night)

5. Swelling or bruising around the joint or the location of an injury

6. Limited range of motion

7. Instability while walking, standing, or lifting
