Keeping our kids safe - Mount Pleasant Police
What is MPPD doing for our community? Glad you asked!
Enforcement is not just about writing a citation. In 2017 officers issued 235 citations for unrestrained children. These are small infants, toddlers, and young kids not fastened in a safety seat.
To help with compliance and to better protect our children, MPPD created a program to teach parents car seat safety and to properly fit small children in car seats.
For those who took the department up on the program it provided 182 new and FREE car seats to parents who received a citation and came to one of the training classes.
Then BOOM, the court dismissed the citation after the parent became compliant.
