Rivera awarded Wade Stinson Memorial Athletic Scholarship

Mount Pleasant High School senior Diego Rivera, son of Jose Rivera and Araceli Villa, is the 2017 recipient of the Wade Stinson Memorial Athletic Scholarship.

He participated in Cross Country Track for three years and advanced to regionals his senior year. He also was a member of the MPHS Soccer team for three years during which time the team advanced to playoffs and became undefeated District Champions during his senior year.

Diego plans to attend NTCC and earn his Automotive Technician certificate. He then plans to attend Texas A&M University-Texarkana and pursue his degree while hopefully playing on the soccer team.

Mrs. Debbie Stinson presented Diego with the scholarship in memory of her son Wade, who played baseball, basketball, and football at MPHS. He was an outstanding athlete who played from the heart in all that he did. Wade also loved riding horses, shooting guns, and going to the lake. He was an awesome young man that was a friend to everyone he met. The scholarship was established in his memory by his many friends.
