Dumping animals is illegal

Over the past several weeks both the Mount Pleasant Police Department and Titus County Sheriff’s Office have taken criminal offense reports for abandoning animals.

There is no excuse for this type of behavior. If you are caught you will be arrested and put in jail. The Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter will take your unwanted animals if you are a city or county resident. Dumping an animal is a criminal offense unless you release it to the Shelter.

To the person driving the white Dodge PT Cruiser who was observed abandoning a mother dog and her puppies on County Road 2500, we suggest turning yourself. There were witnesses.
